Community Information Evening
Marg Tapper
On Friday 17th June, the Wairahi Tracks Trust held its annual Community Information evening at the Presbyterian Church Hall in Waipu.
About 40 people attended on a rather miserable winter’s night and enjoyed the presentations about the Trusts’ achievements and plans for the future.
John Tapper as Chair outlined the master plan for walking and cycling tracks in the larger Piroa Brynderwyn area, while stressing the need to work closely and openly with all interested landowners and interested parties. Great progress has been achieved to date.
Recently the focus has been on the Waipu Coastal Walkway. The Trust is working very closely with the Whangarei District Council to improve the surface and accessibility of this popular walkway as muddy and slippery conditions have caused the track to be closed temporarily. After presentations by leaders of the Weed, Planting and Pest teams of the Wairahi Tracks Trust everyone enjoyed refreshments and the camaraderie of the evening.
A big Thankyou to all our volunteers, supporters and sponsors.
